Getting Started with Qpher Vault

Install Qpher Vault on iPhone, create your account and encrypt your first document. Qpher Vault also runs in the browser at vault.qpher.ai.

This guide walks you through downloading Qpher Vault, creating your account, and encrypting your first file.

Requirements​

  • iPhone running iOS 17 or later
  • An email address for account creation

Step 1: Download Qpher Vault​

Get Qpher Vault free from the App Store. iPhone, iOS 17 or later.

Step 2: Create Your Account​

  1. Open the app and choose Sign in with Apple, or Continue with Email
  2. With email, keep Create selected, enter your name, your email address and a password of at least 8 characters, accept the terms and tap Create account

Step 3: Verify Your Email​

If you signed up with email, you'll need to verify it:

  1. Check your inbox for the verification email from Qpher
  2. Tap the verification link
  3. Return to the app — your account is now verified

Check your spam folder. You can also tap "Resend" in the app to send a new verification email.

Step 4: Encrypt Your First File​

Once your account is set up, you'll see an empty document list:

  1. On the Documents tab, tap + and choose Encrypt document
  2. Choose where the file comes from — Files, Camera, Photos or Scan Document — and pick it
  3. Sign this document is on by default; leave it on to sign the document in your name
  4. Tap Encrypt & Save. Qpher Vault encrypts the document on your iPhone and uploads it

Add a document in Qpher Vault; it is encrypted on your iPhone before it is uploaded.

What Happens During Encryption?​

When you encrypt a file, Qpher Vault:

  1. Generates a random AES-256-GCM encryption key (DEK)
  2. Encrypts your file with the DEK
  3. Wraps the DEK using X-Wing KEM (post-quantum key encapsulation)
  4. Uploads the encrypted file to storage in the United States
  5. The private key is used only inside Qpher's isolated key service — it never touches your device

Private keys are generated and used only inside Qpher's isolated key service. No API can export them.
